I was recently introduced to Sean McGibney, a Mandarin speaker and entrepreneur who has co-founded The Chairman’s Bao. This website is a brilliant resource for learning Chinese and practising reading characters with material based on current media events and discussions.

The Chairman’s Bao is really user friendly. You pick articles to read at your HSK level – Hanyu shuiping Kaoshi, the Chinese government Chinese language exam from beginners at level 1 to fluent at level 6. The texts can easily convert between simplified and traditional, and have a live dictionary next to the text. If you don’t know a word, hover over it and the pronunciation and English definition will appear in the right hand column.

Sincere congratulations to Sean and his colleagues, This is a great concept, skillfully implemented. And subscription is currently free – I would highly recommend you taking a look.
